About the author

Dr. Mel B. Yoken is Chancellor Professor Emeritus of French Language and Literature at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, where he began teaching French in 1966. Though retired, he is very active in the university and its surrounding communities.
Born and raised in Fall River, Massachusetts, Dr. Yoken earned his Master of Arts in Teaching at Brown University and his Ph.D. in French Language & Literature from the Five College Consortium.
He is the author of eight books and was recognized with the French Legion of Honor.
Dr. Yoken lives in New Bedford, Massachusetts with his wife Cindy. He has three sons, two daughters-in-law, six grandsons, and countless friends.
